Brief Bio

 Born and raised in Aley, Lebanon. Graduate of the AUB, MD 1957. Post graduate training in Pathology, Internal Medicine, and Cardiovascular Diseases in the US. Board Certified in Internal Medicine 1973, and in Cardiovascular Diseases in 1973, and in Echocardiography 1996. Clinical Professor of Medicine at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse NY and Director of Echocardiography and Stress Testing at Crouse Hospital since 1980. Authored and Co-authored more than 50 articles in peer reviewed Cardiology Journals and published a textbook on Echocardiography in 1993 (J.P. Lippincott). Established the New York Heart center with Drs Daniel Fuleihan and Dennis Ehric in 1983. Involved in many social and cultural organizations, and recipient of many awards, including distinguished service award by the Onondaga County Medical Society. In 1999 Dr. Obeid published a book of poetry in Arabic titled Sada Al-sinin (Dar Sader, Lebanon). In 2006 he published a book, The Druze and their faith in Tawhid (Syracuse University Press). Resides in Syracuse NY with his wife Nawal Saab, and two sons, Omar and Kareem.
