AFS Intercultural Programs is a nonprofit which specializes in international exchange programs. Next week, there will be international high school students from around the world coming to the Central New York area. These students are not only excited to learn more about America, but are excited to teach others about the homes that they've left.

Unfortunately, we still need host families for some of them. Although many of these students are here for a year, we're looking for both permanent and temporary families. The temporary families, or Welcome families, are families who host for 6-8 weeks while we find a more permanent home for them.

Something happens when you open your door to an exchange student. Not only does it change the life of the exchange student, but it changes the life of the family as well. If you want to experience the joy of meeting and interacting with an exchange student, please feel free to contact me at 1.800.876.2377 ext. 111 or siga@afs.org.

I've attached a bio sheet of just some of the students we have available. Help us change the lives of these students as well as change the lives of our future generations.

One of our sponsors here at CNYMLC, Jodi Carr of As We Grow, LLC was selected as the Featured WBE in the Women's Business Development Center June Newsletter --the regional center for Women's Business Enterprise National Council, a newsletter for Florida certified women-owned businesses.  You can listen to, or read the interview here

As We Grow was also fortunate to be in the WBEs in the News section with their Grant Award from Edison Inventors Association,

WBE is a Women Business Enterprise. The WBENC is a national certification organization, http://www.wbenc.com/ for WBEs. The group I'm involved with is my regional affiliate office in Miami for the WBENC. The one in New York, is found at http://www.wpeo.us. Some companies, especially large companies, have a policy to transact business with a certain percentage of diversity businesses, certified women-owned and minority businesses. This is the organization that helps to join the two parties for "done deals".

' I will be happy to share about certification as a woman-owned business, or even the invention process. '
